29 Love Notes: Stop tripping and take a trip

29 Love Notes: Estelle - American Boy
Love Notes: Stop tripping and take a trip
Love is an adventure and sometimes it can be a real trip. Are you bored and in need of a break from the humdrum plain old ordinary day? Plan a getaway! It doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant or use up all of your savings. Sometimes it is just fun to take a day trip somewhere close by. All that really matters is that you both get to spend some time together away from all the madness.
The spirit of this song is so fun and carefree. Sometimes we treat relationships to much like a job and then we feel like we need a vacation away from our mate. Although spending some time apart is a great thing, your relationship should never feel like a literal ball and chain. Even though you are in love don’t forget to have fun and keep things light hearted. Don’t trip on the small stuff and of course choose your battles. Just have fun!

29 Love Notes: Ultimatums...Nobody likes them

Song: O-Town - All or Nothing

Love Note: Ultimatums...Nobody likes them

Cuz I want it all, Or nothing at all There's nowhere left to fall, When you reach the bottom it's now or never.

As comical as this video is the song is pretty serious. It’s about a dude who loves a girl who is in love with another dude or her old boyfriend at that. Yeah..it sucks to be in a relationship with someone who isn’t completely committed to you. You know what else sucks, Ultimatums.  Ultimatums work sometimes and sometimes they leave you single. The only time you use an ultimatum is when you pretty much don’t care about what happens. Trying to test someone’s love for you is just a bad plan doomed to fail. Anyway you deserve the full attention and love of your partner and if you are not getting that then maybe you need to give them some space. Regardless, you will find out if you have patience and patience is a virtue.

Side note: I forgot about O-Town.  Decent song and fun group. Enjoy!

29 Love Notes: Super Wonderful not Superficial

Love Song: Beautiful Soul

Love Note: Super Wonderful not Superficial

I don't want another pretty face, I don't want just anyone to hold, I don't want my love to go to waste, I want you and your beautiful soul.
This song is so awesome! Have you ever seen a couple before and wondered how he or she got that super attractive person. It is such a superficial thought, but everyone I am sure has thought it before or even said it out loud. It is truly a blessing to find someone who can see pass outer appearance and loves you for your good character. Even “super models” want people who can love them for who they are and not what they look like. Everyone wants genuine love, a love that surpasses earthly matters and connects the soul. The soul mate is not attracted to your career, physical features, or status. They love you because of the super wonderful person you are on the inside. That is what being virtuous is all about, obtaining those characteristics that make you a well rounded individual who radiates a loving spirit.

In the song it says, “You're the one I wanna chase,You're the one I wanna hold
I wont let another minute go to waste, I want you and your beautiful soul.”
It is interesting how we meet people and sometimes it feels like they are too good to be true. Maybe you feel that way because you think you don’t deserve a love that great. If you love yourself and know how great you are you wouldn’t need to question why “Mr or Ms. Right” is madly in love with you. Don’t question it! Allow yourself this month to be loved completely.

29 LOVE NOTES: A Secure Love

Love Song: All4ONE - I SWEAR
Love Note: A Secure Love
“I see the questions in your eyes, I know what's weighing on your mind, You can be sure I know my heart

I remember not really caring for this song when it came out. I was a lot younger than and didn’t really get what the song was talking about. I was too busy just being a drama geek to care about love and relationships. But I heard it on the radio the other day and really enjoyed the song and the lyrics. In a nut shell the song is just an affirmation of love. Sometimes in relationships things happen and fear slips in and you become insecure. You begin to question if your mate can withstand the storm and if they still care. Sometimes your mate is the one who feels insecure.
It is natural to get scared at times but never let it manifest into something that can end up destroying your relationship. The way you combat fear in a relationship is finding a secure love within yourself and knowing how great you are. Also make a vow to begin to speak positive words to yourself and to your mate. Make a bold declaration to love yourself and your mate no matter what.  Words are so powerful and communication is the weapon to eliminating insecurity.

29 Love Notes: Brian McKnight - Back At One

Love Song: Brian McKnight - Back At One
Love Note:  Work it!
"If ever I believe my work is done... then I start Back at One (yeah)"

Every time you ask married people about marriage they always tell you that it is hard work. I am sure that being in any type of long-term relationship is challenging. It is easy to forget all the hard work you put in to catch that guy or girl after so many years pass by. Being married doesn’t give you the green light to stop doing the things that made you attractive to your mate.
You are supposed to become one in marriage, but not so much that you lose your identity. I was talking to someone today about how it is a choice to let yourself go when you get married and have kids. It is a choice to have a beer belly and to stop taking care of you. It’s a choice to morph into this sexless figure that neither you or your husband can recognize. It is even a choice to stop having date night and telling that person how much they mean to you.
What I like about Brian McKnight’s song, Back at One, is that he acknowledges the work that has to take place to show your mate that you are dedicated to a life of love and romance. Whether it is a card, surprise lunch date, a romantic walk in the park, flowers, or an unexpected slow dance in the kitchen, do something every day to show your love that you are still the ONE they fell in love with.

Love Notes: I'm Ready ~Tevin Campbell

Love Song -Tevin Campbell – I’m Ready
Songwriters: DUCEY, CHRIS/MILLIS, ED
Love NoteReady for Love
This is one of my favorite Tevin Campbell songs! The song opens with the lyrics, “Baby, it was uncool to love me and then leave me standing here now without a goodbye”. This opening line shows that the love interest wasn’t ready for love and when a person isn’t ready for love it is evident. When a person is not ready to receive or give love then hearts are broken and opportunities to be in a healthy relationship are missed.

What I like about the song is the message of patience. There is no better healer than time, but you have to be willing to make the sacrifice of waiting for your heart to heal or waiting on another person to heal. Regardless, time is a true test of whether your love is a true love, because true love is endless. Instead of jumping into another relationship (rebounding) or staying in a relationship with a person that isn’t ready to receive you, try patience. Give yourself the time  this month to prepare for love. Self reflect, read positive literature, write your own love song, fellowship with others in healthy relationships, and learn what makes you happy so that when true love calls you can say, I’m ready!

LOVE NOTES: 29 Songs and Letters of Love

In celebration of the month of love, February, I am posting a love song every day.  2012 is a leap year which means February will have 29 days. I’m calling this series of blogs Love Notes: 29 Songs and  Letters of Love. Every day you will get a love song and a message of love. And if you are lucky I may share one of my original love songs with you.  I hope everyone enjoys the selection of songs and shares the message of love with someone special.
My first favorite love song is Michael Jackson’s I’ll be There. It’s a beautiful promise to a good friend that no matter what happens they can always count on you. Unconditional love has no time limit and when you truly care about a person, the love you have for them surpasses all earthly matters. Sometimes it is good to reach out to a friend and remind them of your commitment to being supportive in a time of need. We all go through trials and tribulations and it is good to know that your friends have your back. Take the time to tell someone this month that you are there for them.
